The True Meaning of "Memorial Day"

Before you fire up the BBQ, pack the picnic basket or take a drive to the beach or the mountains please take a moment to reflect upon the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a U.S. Holiday to remember those in the United States Armed Forces and their families that paid the ultimate price for our freedom and the security and serenity we enjoy and yes sometimes take for granted.  Below is a short definition and explanation from Wikipedia...take a look you might learn something new, I know I did I never knew about "Decoration Day".  Most of all remember to take a pause to say A Word of Thanks especially if you know of someone who's life has been touched by sacrifices made on our behalf!

Memorial Day is a US federal holiday wherein the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces are remembered. The holiday, which is celebrated every year on the final Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.

WOW! What a great team! With the guidance of Connie and Jerry we recently placed our house on the market and to our surprise our house sold for 30k over asking price. One weekend of open house resulting in 9 offers. WOW! Connie and Jerry's knowledge is what made our profit astonishing. California Propositions 60, 90 & 110...What are they?

These propositions are constitutional amendments that allow a homeowner to transfer their existing property base tax value to a replacement residence, of course as with everything else in life there are conditions - Qualified persons over the age of 55 or persons of any age who are severely and permanently disabled.

In addition there are other conditions that need to be meet in order to qualify for this huge tax saving such as:

Both properties must be in the same county, replacement property of equal or lesser value, the replacement property must have been acquired or newly constructed within 2 years of  (before or after) the sale of the original property as well as additional conditions.

The main point is a lot of homeowners that could qualify for these savings do not even know about them.  Make sure to investigate all options before considering a sale and purchase if you think you may have potential to qualify...it only take a few questions and answers to save $$$  As they say "It pays to consult a professional" .
